HOME/ BELIEFS/ NEWS/
|
(St. Timothy's Newsletter is printed once a month and mailed to parishioners. If you have any items to be published, please submit them to the church office by the 17th of the month.) From the Rector: A Miracle Among Us
Last November one of our long standing members Margie Eastwood received some news that would forever change her life. She was told by her Doctor that she had small cell carcinoma cancer and that it was inoperable. She was diagnosed to have cancer in three different areas of her body. Later her Doctor would tell her that at the time he felt that she had only six weeks to live! Well God had another plan in mind for Margie. There was a lot of prayers offered up for her and so with a strong faith in God' healing Grace she began the treatment that was prescribed. When the treatment was over and the final tests were run the results amazed everyone. Not only had Margie survived well beyond the Doctor's expectations but the cancer had shrunk to one third of its original size. What a glorious miracle it has been and it has happened right in our midst. That is how the hand of God usually works. He works quietly and powerfully and His works are beyond our understanding. All that we can do is give praise and thanks to God even while we acknowledge that none of us know what the future holds for us but we all do know who holds the future. Margie has approved this article and wants to express her deep appreciation to her church family at St. Timothy's. She wants you to know that she feels that she could not have made it to this point without your prayers and support. Fr. Walt+ Father Walt's sermons are available upon request. Please call the church office 318-487-0875. Accolades to Our Youth!

Father Walt will be on vacation from July 6th until August 29th. If you need the services of a priest during this time, please contact the church office. The Rev. Don White and Canon Larry Wilkes will be filling in on Sunday's. Ultreya and Cursillo:
Ultreya will be Thursday, August 14th at 6:00 pm. Cursillo #137: Three Days That Last a Lifetime OPEN YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS TO A NEW EXPERIENCE! The titles of the weekend talks indicate their content: Ideal, Grace, Laity, Faith, Holiness, Formation, the Sacraments, Evangelization, Obstacles to a Llife of Grace, Leaders, Evangelization of the Environment, Christian Life, Christian Commmunity, and Group Reunion. Each talk is followed by a discussion period. The "after activity" of the Cursillo is known as the Fourth Day. During this time, perseverance is important just as it is in any method of renewal. In the Cursillo Movement, the community spirit is continued after the three days through the "Ultreya" or reunions of the community. These are available as a means of growth in understanding and zeal within the Christian community. Reunions of smaller groups of friends are also available in order for them to encourage one another in spiritual improvement and the Christian Apostolate. A Cursillo is an encounter with Christ. If that is understood, then the power, beauty and joy of the Movement will be understood Interested? Talk to your parish priest or someone who has already made a Cursillo. Attend one!!! Vestry Meeting:
The vestry will resume their regular monthly meetings on Tuesday, August 19th at 6:00 pm; there will be no July meeting. St. Timothy's Vestry: What is a vestry? The Episcopal Church in the USA maintains a vestry of lay members, who are elected by the congregation. The vestry is responsible for conducting the church's business and electing the rector of the church. The rector acts as an ex officio member of the vestry, sometimes chairing the meetings, but usually only votes in order to break a tie. The Senior and Junior Wardens are the leading lay members of the vestry. At St. Timothy's, the vestry is made up of the Senior Warden, the Junior Warden, the Treasurer and twelve vestry members who serve 3 year terms. Four members of the vestry are voted in each year. The vestry meets typically on the third Tuesday of every month. Camera Help!
