Christian Education for Adults

Christian Education for adults is an important part of our parish life at St. Timothy's. Normally, our Adult Sunday School Class promptly begins at 9:10 am, and concludes promptly at 10:10 am.
During the six week period from July 4 to August 8, we will go from two Sunday Eucharists to one. Instead of the usual 8:00 and 10:30 am Eucharists we will have a single Holy Eucharist at 9:00 am. People who normally serve at either the 8:00 or the 10:30 am Eucharist will be assigned to serve, during this six week period, at the 9:00 am Eucharist.
On Tuesdays, you will find a group gathered in the Parish Hall perusing the Bible from cover to cover. Starting August 17, this group is studying Letter to Titus. This is one of the Pastoral Letters, attributed to St. Paul but most likely written after his death in the early first century. This weekly Bible study begins at 1:30 pm lasting for approximately an hour. All persons are invited.
On three Sundays in September and four Sundays in October, Father Hughes will teach a class called The Sacraments at our normal Sunday School hours, from 9:10 to 10:10 a.m. This class will cover what we Episcopalians believe about the two Sacraments instituted by Christ (Baptism and the Eucharist) and the other five Sacraments (Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Marriage, and Ordination). This class will give the background of each of the sacraments, the roots of each one of them in the New Testament, and how we celebrate each one in The Book of Common Prayer, as approved by the General Convention of 1979. PowerPoint presentations will be used. This class is for adults, high school, and middle school students. It will be held September 12th, 19th, and 26th, as well as October 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st. You will notice that on the first Sundays of the months, September 5th and October 3rd, this class will not be held. This will give us the opportunity to enjoy our traditional Breakfast, cooked and served by men of the parish, without trying to hold class at the same time.
On Wednesday evenings at 7:00, following the Eucharist at 6:00 p.m. and the potluck dinner at 6:30, Father Hughes will teach a class on the second, third, fourth, and even fifth Wednesdays of the month. This class will be The Gospel According to Matthew. This class will stretch from August 25th to November 17th.
On the first Wednesday nights of each month, we won't have a class, but will enjoy the dinner cooked and served by the Honduras Mission Team, immediately following the Wednesday Eucharist at 6:30 pm. Committee chairs, please note that this would be an excellent time and venue at which to hold your committee meeting.
